The light-emitting diode (LED) is one of today's most energy-efficient and rapidly developing lighting technologies. LEDs last longer, are more durable, and offer better light quality than nearly any other type of lighting available.

LED Lighting Performance
  • High-Power and High-Quality LEDs improves safety and visibility
  • More delivered lumens per watt
  • 50,000 hours of operation to L70, reducing constant maintenance
LED Lighting Cost Savings
  • Lower total cost of ownership
  • Reduces maintenance costs with long-lasting LEDs
LED Lighting Eco Advantages
  • In most cases, LEDs use 50% less energy
  • Harmful chemicals, such as mercury, are not used so they do not end up in a landfill

Energy Savings

LED is a highly energy efficient lighting technology, and has the potential to fundamentally change the future of residential and commercial lighting. Residential LEDs generally use at least 75% less energy than incandescent lighting, and last 15 to 50 times longer.

Widespread use of LED lighting has the greatest potential impact on energy savings and could save about 348 TWh (compared to no LED use) of electricity in the United States. This is the equivalent annual electrical output of 44 large electric power plants (1000 megawatts each), and a total savings of more than $30 billion at today's electricity prices.
